Administration Committee

The Tasks of the Administration Committee

The Administration Committee (Verwaltungsausschuss) is the second body of the local authority. The Lord Mayor is the chairman of the Administration Committee. In addition the Administration Committee is made up of ten members of the City Council, so-called Deputies (Beigeordnete).

The Administration Committee is mainly responsible for preparing City Council resolutions. Proposed resolutions which were prepared by the specialist committees are passed on to the Administration Committee. The Administration Committee either agrees to the resolution, declines it or submits an amended proposal. The Administration Committee also coordinates the work of the individual specialist committees.

Furthermore the Administration Committee makes decisions on matters which are not the responsibility of the City Council or the Lord Mayor. It therefore has a so-called "gap responsibility". The other tasks of the Administration Committee also include, for example, resolutions on purely administrative jobs such as the admissibility of a resident's application or a petition for a referendum.

The Administration Committee convenes in a non-public session in the old town hall (Altes Rathaus) or in the PFL Culture Centre. Our German web pages provide a list of the Administration Committee members »
