Artothek Oldenburg – Art for Loan

The Artothek Oldenburg is an art library and a forum for the regional art scene which promotes the work and interests of artists. The Artothek purchases, exhibits and lends original works of art to support regional artists and to enable the citizens of Oldenburg to experience contemporary art in a very special manner.

Visitors can find inspiration from a wide range of contemporary artworks in the Artothek, which is owned by the City of Oldenburg and which was founded in 1982. In addition to works from prominent artists from Oldenburg such as Udo Reimann, Insa Winkler or Klaus Beilstein, the Artothek also features works by artists of international renown such as Joseph Beuys, Elvira Bach and Horst Janssen which can be borrowed and taken home. 1,400 contemporary paintings, photographs, small sculptures and video portraits are available for loan for an annual fee of € 20.00 (reduced rate € 10.00).
