Integration Pilots

Integration Pilots Assist Migrants in Everyday Life

The Integration Pilot project co-funded by the state of Lower Saxony was also introduced in Oldenburg in 2007 by the Oldenburg Volkshochschule (Community Education Centre). Integration Pilots are people with and without a migration background who work voluntarily to assist migrants in everyday life. This assistance ranges from general practical help with everyday tasks such as shopping, registration for language courses and filling out forms through to long-term assistance for individuals.

It is important for the coordinator of the project, Yasemin Kocatas, that the Integration Pilot Group is made up of people who come from different backgrounds, and that they are of different ages and have different standards of education. The project is very well received by immigrants who take advantage of the scheme.
