Mayor

The Most Important Duties of the Mayor

The third body of a local authority is the Mayor. (In independent municipalities or large independent towns and cities such as Oldenburg, the Mayor is called the Lord Mayor.) He is the official representative of the city and represents the city in public, in legal and administrative dealings and also in legal court cases.

The Mayor is also head of the City Administration. Another central obligation is the preparation of meetings and the resolutions of the City Council and the Council committees. He is responsible for the implementation of these resolutions and decisions by the City Administration.
